Slippery Nipple Shot

A classic from the era of neon lights and suggestive drink names, the Slippery Nipple shot is a sweet, layered cocktail that made its mark in the 1980s bar scene. Made with Irish cream liqueur and anise-flavored sambuca, this shot is as much about visual appeal as it is about taste. The two spirits layer beautifully, creating a smooth, Instagram-worthy presentation that looks far more complex than it is.

For those with an extra-sweet tooth—or just chasing that perfect party photo—some versions add a splash of grenadine at the base, dialing up both the sugar and the color.

This shot didn’t just stand alone—it sparked a whole family of playful variations like the Buttery Nipple (with butterscotch schnapps) and the Fuzzy Nipple (featuring peach schnapps). As for where the original got its name? It’s anyone’s guess—but let’s be honest, part of the fun is saying it out loud.
