Whiskey Cocktails

Algonquin

The Algonquin cocktail was named after the famous Algonquin Hotel in New York City although when it was created is unclear. The midtown Manhattan hotel, built in 1902, was known as a “dry” hotel well before Prohibition. Whether the cocktail came about before or after the 1930s is up for debate.

Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz Blended whiskey, 1 oz Dry Vermouth, 1 oz Pineapple juice

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz Blended whiskey
  • 1 oz Dry Vermouth
  • 1 oz Pineapple juice

Instructions

1

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

2

Combine all ingredients in the shaker.

3

Shake vigorously.

4

Strain contents into a chilled cocktail glass.

Notes

Stir the Algonquin if you like. Pineapple juice gets foamy when shaken and some people don't enjoy this aspect. However, it does settle after a few minutes.
