The Blue Bar at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City made the best Elderflower Martini I’ve ever had. No questions asked.
You can imagine my disappointment when Alicia and I tried to book the Algonquin Hotel for a stay during our trip to NYC in early November 2021 when we discovered the hotel was closed. We assumed it was due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it was due to a major remodel.
What remains to be seen is the fate of the Blue Bar. It was still closed when we stopped by to see the changes in the Algonquin during the remodel.
Elderflower Martini
Ingredients: 1 oz elderflower cordial, 1 oz Bombay Sapphire(R) gin, 1 oz Cinzano(R) dry vermouth, 1/2 oz lime juice
Ingredients
- 1 oz elderflower cordial
- 1 oz Bombay Sapphire(R) gin
- 1 oz Cinzano(R) dry vermouth
- 1/2 oz lime juice
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes.
Shake until very chilled.
Serve immediately.
Notes
Elderflower is a traditional flavor of Scandinavian summer. You can substitute vodka for gin if that's your preference. As always, we recommend chilling your martini glass in the freezer before pouring the cocktail.
